If there’s one theme that keeps showing up in my sessions, it’s the discomfort of being in between. You are not where you used to be, but you are not yet where you want to be. That space, where the next step has not yet revealed itself, is what so many people describe as feeling stuck.
We often see how others are moving forward. A new house, a new job, a baby, a relationship. Scroll for three seconds and it can feel like everyone else has it all figured out. Meanwhile, you might be sitting with a big question mark over your life, wondering if you have somehow fallen behind.
Here’s what’s actually happening. The brain craves certainty because it believes it needs it in order to stay safe. If you could just know how things are going to turn out, you could plan better, protect yourself, and finally relax. Right?
But here’s the thing. The moments in life when everything feels uncertain, these transitional and in-between seasons, are often the ones where real growth and transformation begin. They are uncomfortable, yes, but they are fleeting. And often, they are the ones we later realize mattered most.
Some years ask questions and some years answer them. Sometimes, simply giving yourself permission to name the season you are in, even saying “this is a season of questions,” helps soften the pressure to solve everything and makes the discomfort easier to manage.
So, what if you stopped rushing to fix the uncertainty? What if you let yourself stay curious instead of chasing clarity?
Can you imagine what might be coming without needing to control it? Can you daydream about a future partner, a new role, or a different home without turning it into pressure?
Just because it’s not yours today doesn’t mean it’s not on its way. And the time between now and then still matters. It deserves to be lived, not just endured.
You don’t need to have it all figured out. What you really need is trust in your ability to navigate whatever comes next.
Think back to who you were ten years ago. That version of you would be amazed at who you are today. So many things have worked out. So many unknowns turned into beautiful chapters.
What is meant for you will not pass you by. In the meantime, your job is to keep showing up for the life you have right now, doing the best you can with the information you have.
Make one decision today that brings you closer to the kind of life you want, even if it’s small. And hold space for the reminder that you are planting seeds. They will take time to grow.
One last question to carry with you: What if everything you are hoping for actually happens? How would you move through your life today if you knew, without a doubt, it was on its way?
Start there.
You’ve got this,
Stevie
